In a surprising move just before the 2025 US Open, tennis star Coco Gauff has split with her coach, Matt Daly.
The decision comes after a strong start to the season that saw her win the French Open, followed by a recent slump in form.
Gauff has brought in biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan, a move that goes against advice from Rick Macci, Serena Williams’ former coach, who suggested adding to the team, not subtracting.
Daly had been with Gauff since September 2024 and coached her to three titles, including her Grand Slam win at Roland Garros.
With the US Open main draw just days away, Gauff will now work with her childhood coach Jean-Christophe Faurel and MacMillan as she aims for a second Major title on home soil.
