Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards have confirmed their interest in Uganda Cranes forward Allan Okello as they look to rebuild their squad ahead of the new season.
Club Secretary General Isaac Mulindi confirmed the club’s interest in the Vipers forward.
The 12-time Kenyan champions are desperate for a reliable goal scorer after a 27-year league title drought.
Okello finished the 2024/25 Ugandan Premier League season as top scorer with 19 goals.
“Okello is the kind of player who transforms a team instantly,” Mulindi said in an interview with Citizen Digital. “But we also understand many of these talents are being monitored by clubs with far bigger offers. We cannot waste time on players already leaning towards overseas moves.”
Mulindi urged fans to be patient as the club’s new leadership focuses on long-term rebuilding.
Chairman Boniface Ambani, Secretary General Isaac Mulindi, and Treasurer Newton Mulindi are implementing cost controls and a salary cap while targeting players who fit their vision.
“Fans should understand that we are rebuilding carefully. Our focus is on signing players who will buy into our vision. The journey has just begun, but we are confident the results will come,” Mulindi added.
Securing Okello would provide the attacking firepower that has eluded the club since their last league triumph in 1998. With his domestic and international pedigree, he could become the marquee signing the Ingwe faithful have long awaited.
