After a season out of competitive action, massively versed defender Murushid Juuko has signed a two-year employment contract with 2023/24 Uganda Cup winners Kitara FC.
The 31-year-old centre-back has been without a club since parting ways with Vipers SC at the end of the 2023/24 season, where he contributed to the Venoms’ defensive set-up before moving after the expiry of his contract there.
His arrival at Kitara is seen as a major boost for the Royals, who continue to strengthen their ranks ahead of the new Uganda Premier League campaign. He joins assistant coach Wasswa Bbosa, with whom they worked at Express, previously.
Juuko brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously featured for some of the biggest clubs in Uganda and beyond. He first made his mark at Bunamwaya SC (now Vipers), before moving to SC Victoria University.
His performances earned him a transfer to Tanzanian giants Simba SC, where he spent a successful spell and became a regular for the Uganda Cranes.
After his return home, Juuko turned out for Express FC, helping them to a league title, before re-joining Vipers SC in 2021 where he won a domestic double in his first season.
