Scotland’s David Plenderleith and Rob Heppell sit atop the men’s leaderboard after the opening round of the 2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Seniors Open at Lugazi Hills Golf & Country Club. Both players carded a gross score of 83 (+12) to finish Friday tied for the lead.
Michael Cleave trails by a single stroke in third place on 84 (+13), while Tony Kisadha sits fourth on 85 (+14). Former two-time champion John Muchiri is tied for fifth on 86 (+15) alongside Zimbabwe’s Zephania Dube, leaving him with ground to make up heading into Saturday’s final round.
In the women’s event, defending champion Edrea Kagombe began her title defense strongly, ending the day tied for first with Catherine Pavie at 94 (+23). Rose Azuba is two shots back in third on 96 (+25), with Katy Kabenge fourth on 100 (+29) and Monica Ntege rounding out the top five on 106 (+35).
The Seniors Open concludes on Saturday, August 23, after 36 holes. It marks the opening leg of the 2025 Johnnie Walker Uganda Open Golf Championship, which will run for four weeks and feature the Ladies, Amateur, and Professional Opens.
