The 2025 Veterans’ Tournament got underway today at Kampala Club, attracting more than 150 athletes under the theme “Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle Through Sports.”
The annual event has drawn men aged 50 and above and women aged 45 and above, who are competing across ten sports disciplines including lawn tennis, badminton, table tennis, squash, swimming, and the traditional board game omweso.
The competition runs from August 25 to 30 and will close with a dinner and awards ceremony where winners will receive trophies and accolades.
Organizers say this year marks a shift in approach, with Kampala Club opening its doors to younger players for the first time. Chairman David Kamukama noted that the move is meant to nurture emerging talent and prepare them for opportunities at both national and international levels.
