Newcastle United’s search for a new striker has hit another snag. The club’s substantial £50m offer for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen was rejected by Wolves.
The Norwegian forward, who was just made a permanent Wolves player, is considered “a very important player” by manager Vitor Pereira.
This follows Newcastle’s previously failed attempts to sign Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, who is now expected to stay with his club.
With the transfer window closing on September 1, Newcastle is in a race against time to find a replacement for Callum Wilson.
The situation is compounded by the ongoing saga surrounding Alexander Isak, who is seeking a move to Liverpool. As a result, Anthony Gordon is set to lead the attack against Liverpool on Monday night.
