Uganda’s Women’s Super League champions Kampala Queens have learned their opponents for the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers after being drawn in Group A alongside Kenya Police Bullets and Eritrea’s debutants Denden SC.
The tournament, set for September 4-16 in Nairobi, will be staged at Nyayo and Ulinzi Stadiums. Kampala Queens, under the guidance of former Ethiopian women’s national team coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal, will be looking to make a strong statement in their latest continental quest.
The draw was conducted in Nairobi by CECAFA Competitions Manager Yusuf Mossi, assisted by Kenyan international Esse Mbeyu Akida and Football Kenya Federation’s Kerubo Momanyi.
Kampala Queens head into the qualifiers eager to replicate Uganda’s growing footprint in women’s football. Their path to the semi-finals will require finishing top of the group or emerging as the best-placed second team across the pools. Only one team from the zone will qualify for the final tournament later this year.
Elsewhere, holders Commercial Bank of Ethiopia were placed in Group B with Rwanda’s Rayon Sports and Burundi’s Top Girls Academy, while Tanzania’s JKT Queens lead Group C alongside South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars and Zanzibar’s JKU Princess.
