Uganda’s rising badminton players Fadilah Shamikah and Tracy Naluwooza bowed out of the BWF World Championships in Paris after defeats in the Round of 64.
Making their debut at the global showpiece, the pair competed in both women’s singles and doubles but fell short against more experienced opponents. Despite the early exit, their participation has been hailed as a breakthrough moment for Ugandan badminton, showcasing the country’s growing presence on the world stage.
Both players return home with valuable experience from competing against some of the sport’s elite, which officials say will strengthen Uganda’s bid for greater representation in future international events.
For Shamikah and Naluwooza, the campaign was less about results and more about proving Uganda can produce shuttlers capable of competing at the highest level.
