Tennis legend Venus Williams, 45, has been granted a wildcard to play in the US Open women’s doubles alongside Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, 22.
Williams, a two-time singles champion at the tournament, returned to tennis this season after a year of inactivity.
She was recently defeated in the singles first round by Karolina Muchova but will continue her tournament run with Fernandez.
The new duo is set to face sixth seeds Lyudmyla Kichenok and Ellen Perez in the first round.
Venus has won the US Open doubles title twice before with her sister Serena, who recently paid tribute to her on social media.
