Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a second bid from Newcastle United for striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, with the latest offer standing at £55 million.
With the transfer window closing on Monday, Wolves are reluctant to sell due to the lack of time to find a replacement and the striker’s importance to their Premier League survival.
The 25-year-old, who recently made his loan move permanent for £23 million, scored twice against West Ham on Tuesday. Newcastle’s pursuit is driven by Alexander Isak’s attempt to force a move to Liverpool.
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira stated that while “every player has a price,” he wants to keep the forward, praising his professionalism.
Newcastle has also been linked with Porto’s Samu Aghehowa and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, but has not yet secured a deal. The question remains if Newcastle will increase their offer for Strand Larsen, whose 14 goals last season were key to Wolves’ survival.
