The 2025 NSSF Kampala Hills Run will focus on improving learning conditions in public primary schools across Uganda, with a target of raising Shs 1.5 billion to boost learner welfare.
The annual charity run, scheduled for October 12, will feature 10km and 21km races, starting at 6am from Kololo Independence Grounds. This year marks the sixth edition of the event.
Speaking at a press conference held yesterday at the NSSF head office in Kampala, NSSF Uganda Managing Director Patrick Ayota outlined plans to channel the proceeds into renovating classrooms, upgrading sanitation facilities, and establishing digital laboratories in selected schools. He added that the initiative also aims to improve school enrollment and reduce dropout rates.
“Over the years we have focused on enhancing the well-being and quality of education in public schools. This year we are inviting Ugandans to join us in raising Shs 1.5 billion, which will go towards improving conditions in 10 public schools across the country,” Ayota said.
Next Media’s Head of Sports Broadcast, Andrew Kabuura, welcomed the partnership, emphasizing the role of sports in driving social change.
“It’s a no-brainer for us. At Next Media, we aim to inform and transform communities, and sports is a powerful way to achieve that. We’re excited to support this noble cause and encourage everyone to take part,” Kabuura noted.
Participants will run through Wandegeya, Nakulabye, Namirembe, Mengo, Kisenyi, Nakasero, and Kololo under the theme, “We Run for Ondia.”
