After a year away from the grid, Sergio Perez’s return to Formula 1 with the new Cadillac team is being met with enthusiasm from his fellow drivers.
Nico Hulkenberg, who also took a break from the sport, believes Perez’s time off will be “positive and refreshing.”
Speaking ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Hulkenberg noted that the break likely allowed Perez to “disconnect and to watch it all with some good distance.”
Perez, who lost his Red Bull seat at the end of 2024, will be joined by Valtteri Bottas at the new Cadillac team for the 2026 season.
Other drivers, including Liam Lawson and Esteban Ocon, expressed excitement about having “familiar faces” and a new team on the grid.
Alpine rookie Franco Colapinto shared a personal connection, calling Perez a driver he “was always cheering for when I was very young.”
