Jose Mourinho has left his role as Fenerbahce boss after just over a year, following the club’s elimination from the Champions League play-offs by Benfica.
The Portuguese manager’s single season saw the club finish second in the league, though his tenure was marked by controversy.
Mourinho faced a legal dispute with Champions Galatasaray over alleged racist comments, which he denied, and was also handed a four-match ban for his criticism of referees.
The 62-year-old, a two-time Champions League winner, had previously stated a desire to manage a team “at the bottom of the table in England” to avoid playing in European competitions.
In a statement, Fenerbahce thanked him for his efforts and wished him success.
