Security agencies have assured the public of maximum safety ahead of the 14th edition of the Cancer Run, which takes place this Sunday, August 31, at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Speaking at a press briefing, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said no threats have been detected and described the security situation in the city and across the country as calm.
He added that deployments have been made to ensure a smooth event at Kololo and in other towns where the run will take place.
The run, now in its 14th year, is expected to draw more than 35,000 participants in Kampala and another 20,000 across towns nationwide.
Organizers are targeting to raise UGX 4 billion to support the completion of the cancer center at Nsambya Hospital.
The flag-off is scheduled for 7:00 am at Kololo, which will serve as both the start and finish point.
Beyond the race itself, the day will feature fun activities, refreshments, and a strong community atmosphere as thousands come together for the cause.
