Thunderbirds, Walukuba Back on Top of 2025 Series Standings After Rujumba 7s

Four different teams have won the four Cup Finals so far played on the 2025 Nile Special Uganda Rugby 7s Series.

The latest, Stanbic Black Pirates and Black Pearls, were unlikely champions during their home Rujumba 7s tournament.

The overall standings have also seen some dramatic changes. Thunderbirds and Walukuba Barbarians have regained their place on top of the women’s and men’s tables, but by only slim two-point margins ahead of Avengers and Toyota Buffaloes respectively.

Women’s Overall Standings after Stop 4 Rujumba 7s:

1 Thunderbirds 77
2 Avengers 75
3 Walukuba Titans 64
4 Black Pearls 59
5 She Wolves 55
6 Nile Rapids 45

As it stands, the permutations are tending towards a two-horse race between Thunderbirds and Avengers for the women’s title. Similarly, the men’s title race is in the control of Walukuba and Buffaloes.

2 Buffaloes 73
3 Heathens 59
4 Pirates 58
5 Rhinos 56

Nile Rapids and Gulu City Falcons are stuck at the bottom of the table as the battle against relegation begins to catch a fire.
