Chad snatched a dramatic point against Ghana in African qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw.
It looked like Ghana would cruise to a six-point lead in Group I after Jordan Ayew scored in the 17th minute.
However, Celestin Ecua leveled the score for Chad in the 89th minute with a deflected shot, securing his team’s first point of the qualifiers.
Despite the setback, the Black Stars remain four points clear at the top of their group.
The draw, however, gives renewed hope to second-place Comoros and third-place Mali in the race for the sole automatic qualification spot.
Ghana’s next key match is a home game against Mali.
