Germany suffered a stunning defeat to Slovakia in their opening World Cup qualifier, losing 2-0 in Bratislava.
The result marks only the fourth time in history that Germany has lost a World Cup qualifier.
The hosts took the lead three minutes before halftime when David Hancko scored, following a one-two with David Strelec.
Strelec himself sealed the victory 10 minutes into the second half with a clever finish that curled into the top corner.
Despite having stars like Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz and Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade in their lineup, the German attack was unable to find a breakthrough.
In other matches in Group A, Northern Ireland defeated Luxembourg 3-1.
Elsewhere, Spain beat Bulgaria 3-0, Poland secured a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands, and Belgium thrashed Liechtenstein 6-0. Wales also managed a 1-0 win against Kazakhstan.
