KCCA have confirmed the signing of winger Ssali Alpha Thierry from NEC on a two-year contract, keeping him at the club until 2027.
The 21-year-old, who has previously represented Uganda at two U20 AFCON finals in 2021 and 2023, joins the Cityzens with a reputation for pace and versatility. Comfortable on either flank, he is expected to add attacking depth to the Kasasiro Boys.
Beyond his football ability, the move carries symbolic weight for KCCA.
Alpha is the grandson of ‘Mister’ Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, one of the club’s founding members in 1963 and a central figure in its rise to success in the 1960s and 70s. For many at Lugogo, his arrival is seen as both a football signing and a continuation of a cherished legacy.
“It is a dream come true to join KCCA, a club with such an incredible history and one that my family has a huge attachment to,” Alpha said after completing the move. “I feel a special connection here, and I am ready to compete with my mates and help the team win.”
Coach Brian Ssenyondo welcomed the addition, praising Alpha’s ability to strengthen the squad. “Alpha is a player with huge potential and a fantastic attitude. His ability to play on both wings gives us great flexibility. We are confident he will be a key asset for us, and it is truly special to have a part of the Ssali legacy back in the KCCA FC family.”
Club legend and board member Tom Lwanga also highlighted the historical connection, saying Alpha’s signing links the present squad to the club’s foundation.
“Having Ssali Alpha Thierry, the grandson of ‘Mister’ Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, join KCCA FC upholds Mister’s rich legacy. It connects a new generation of talent to the club’s foundational history.”
Alpha, who is popular musician Bebe Cool’s Son previously played for Proline and Express before joining NEC.
