Uganda Cranes turned on the style at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole on Friday night, sweeping aside Mozambique 4-0 in a FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier.
Allan Okello broke the deadlock with a composed finish before Rogers Mato netted twice to put the result beyond doubt.
Italian-born defender Elio Capradosi capped the evening with his first international goal, sealing a statement victory for Paul Put’s side.
The win pushed Uganda to 12 points after seven matches, level with Mozambique but ahead on goal difference.
Algeria remain clear at the top of Group G with 18 points, while Guinea and Botswana are close behind on ten and nine respectively. Somalia stay rooted to the bottom with one point.
The result marked Uganda’s fourth victory of the campaign and a powerful response after losing the reverse fixture against Mozambique.
The Cranes now switch focus to their next qualifier on Monday against Somalia, again at Namboole, before two tricky away trips to Botswana and Algeria that could shape their qualification hopes.
