KCCA have pulled off one of the headline moves of the transfer window, re-signing former skipper and veteran goalkeeper Charles Lukwago in a deal that brings him back to Lugogo after four years away.
The Kampala giants confirmed the transfer in an announcement published on their official website on Sunday, September 9, 2025, writing: “KCCA announces the re-signing of former captain and celebrated captain.”
Now 31, Lukwago arrives as a free agent after seeing out his contract with South African outfit Venda FC. He has penned a two-year deal that runs through to 2027, a move that underscores KCCA’s ambition to reestablish their dominance in Ugandan football.
Lukwago is no stranger to the yellow and blue faithful. Since joining the club in 2016, he rose to prominence as one of the Uganda Premier League’s most consistent shot-stoppers, flourishing under Mike Mutebi’s stewardship.
His first chapter with KCCA was laden with silverware, including league titles in 2017 and 2019, as well as consecutive Uganda Cup triumphs in 2017 and 2018.
His decision to leave for professional football in South Africa in 2021 marked the end of an era, but his homecoming now signals a fresh chapter in both his career and the club’s resurgence plans.
