Uganda Athletics Federation has confirmed a 23-athlete squad set to compete at the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships (WMTRC) in Canfranc, Pirineos, Spain, from September 25 to 28, 2025.
The team features 12 men and 11 women, underlining the country’s depth in mountain running, a discipline where Uganda has already stamped global authority with six world titles.
Uganda’s last appearance at the WMTRC yielded eight medals, including gold, silver, and bronze, cementing the nation’s reputation as one of the dominant forces in endurance and high-altitude racing.
This year’s group will be tasked with defending that record on the international stage.
Athletes will line up across different categories, including Uphill (6km), Classic (14km), U20 (7km), and Short Trail (45km). With experience and youthful talent combined, the squad reflects Uganda’s ambition to remain at the summit of world mountain running.
