Memphis Depay has cemented his place in Dutch football history, scoring a record-breaking brace in a tense 3-2 World Cup qualifying victory over Lithuania.
The 31-year-old striker’s two goals surpassed Robin van Persie’s long-standing record of 50 international goals.
Depay opened the scoring in the 11th minute, expertly converting a cross to net his 51st international goal.
He then secured the win in the 63rd minute with a powerful header, his 52nd goal for his country.
The victory puts the Netherlands at the top of their qualifying group.
