City Oilers can breathe a sigh of relief as duo Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider have been officially cleared to participate in the ongoing playoffs.
The announcement followed a tribunal ruling on Monday, September 8, 2025, addressing appeals lodged by JT Jaguars and Nam Blazers challenging the eligibility of the two players.
“The petition and appeal challenging the eligibility of Chad Bowie and Kurt Curry Wegscheider are hereby dismissed,” the tribunal stated.
In its decision, the panel concluded that the appeals were unsubstantiated, failing to present adequate evidence to overturn the competitions council’s earlier clearance of the players. The ruling also noted procedural oversights, highlighting that City Oilers were not given a chance to respond to the allegations.
With the matter resolved, Bowie and Wegscheider are expected to feature in the City Oilers lineup as they face JT Jaguars on Tuesday, September 9, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The ruling marks a significant boost for City Oilers as they look to maintain momentum in the playoff race, ensuring their star duo can contribute on the court without any lingering eligibility doubts.
