Nottingham Forest have sacked head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after a 21-month tenure marked by a return to European football.
The decision follows a public breakdown in his relationship with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Nuno took over in December 2023, saving the club from relegation and then leading them to an impressive seventh-place finish last season—their highest since 1995.
This success secured Europa League football and earned him a new three-year contract in June.
However, tensions with Marinakis grew, largely due to disagreements over transfer strategy.
Nuno had openly criticized the club’s summer transfer activity, and his public comments about the deteriorating relationship ultimately led to his dismissal.
The search for a replacement is now underway, with former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou considered a top contender.
