Premier League clubs are demanding more information from the league after a legal dispute with Manchester City over commercial rules was settled without public details.
The agreement saw Man City accept the validity of the “associated party transactions” (APT) rules, which prevent clubs from overvaluing sponsorship deals with companies linked to their owners.
While most clubs are relieved the rules are no longer in jeopardy, several executives expressed frustration at being left in the dark about the terms of the settlement.
The timing is particularly notable as Man City is now reportedly set to complete a lucrative new sponsorship deal with Etihad Airways, which had been previously blocked by the league.
One sports lawyer suggested the settlement means City could now secure higher-value sponsorship deals than before, potentially allowing them to spend more.
However, the agreement does not affect the separate, ongoing case against the club regarding 115 alleged financial breaches.
