British heavyweight Fabio Wardley is ready to prove he belongs among the elite as he prepares to fight former world champion Joseph Parker on October 25th at London’s O2 Arena.
The winner is expected to be the next opponent for undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Wardley, 30, told BBC Sport he had “no hesitation” about taking the fight, viewing it as his chance to show he is a top heavyweight.
A win would be a massive step up for Wardley, who has a far less experienced record compared to Parker’s.
For Parker, 33, the fight is a chance to stay busy after a frustrating year that has seen two world title shots fall through.
With Usyk’s WBO title defense currently delayed, Parker said he doesn’t want to “be waiting around.”
Both fighters have promised a knockout, with Wardley calling the bout his “world title fight” regardless of what’s on the line.
