VfL Wolfsburg have officially signed Christian Eriksen, the 33-year-old Danish playmaker, to a contract running until 2027.
Eriksen, who was a free agent after leaving Manchester United, will wear the number 24 shirt.
Wolfsburg’s sporting director, Sebastian Schindzielorz, praised the signing, calling Eriksen a player who has “seen and experienced everything at the highest level.”
He believes Eriksen’s vast experience and leadership will be a valuable asset to the club’s younger players.
With 144 international caps, Eriksen is Denmark’s record appearance holder and has competed in three World Cups and three European Championships. His career also features a remarkable comeback after suffering a cardiac arrest at EURO 2020.
At the club level, he has made over 300 Premier League appearances for clubs like Tottenham, Brentford, and Manchester United, and has won titles with Ajax, Inter Milan, and Manchester United.
“I’m really looking forward to this new adventure,” Eriksen said, expressing his belief that he can achieve something special with the club. He also noted that the presence of several familiar faces from the Danish national team made Wolfsburg an attractive choice.
