Bugabula confirmed their place in the knockout stage of the 2025 MTN Busoga Masaza Cup after edging Bukooli Bugiri 1-0 at Kamuli Municipal Stadium on Wednesday.
The win, secured by an early strike from Magombe Edgar in the 13th minute, extended Bugabula’s flawless run in this year’s tournament. They remain unbeaten after three games, having scored freely while keeping a perfect defensive record without conceding.
The result made Bugabula the first side to qualify for the knockouts, advancing with a game to spare. They sit comfortably on top of Bukowe Group and will finish their group campaign away to Luuka on September 24.
For Bukooli Bugiri, the defeat leaves them in a tight corner. Their chances of progressing now hinge on beating Luuka at home on September 17 and hoping Luuka falters against Bugabula in the final fixture.
Meanwhile, action continues this week with Buzaaya hosting Bunha at Lwanyama Primary School on Thursday. On Friday, Butembe face Bukooli Namayingo at Mafubira Primary School before closing the week against Busiki at Kisiki College.
