Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has revealed that his relationship with striker Alexander Isak “changed” after the player went on “strike” to force a British record £125 million move to Liverpool.
Speaking publicly for the first time since the transfer, Howe said their bond was a turning point after the forward trained away from the team.
While Howe praised Isak’s contributions to Newcastle’s success, he stressed the importance of recruiting players who are “desperate” to be at the club.
This philosophy, he noted, has been key to the success of past signings like Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.
With new signing Yoane Wissa injured, Newcastle will navigate Saturday’s game against Wolves with limited attacking options, though new forward Nick Woltemade is expected to make his debut.
