Newcastle United has canceled 45 Champions League tickets intended for a Scottish school, exposing a significant ticket touting issue.
The tickets for the Barcelona match were purchased by the High School of Dundee from an unauthorized reseller.
The club stated the tickets will be re-released to legitimate fans.
This move is part of a broader crackdown, with the club already having canceled 78 season tickets this season for similar violations.
About 4,500 accounts are on an internal watchlist, and the club is actively monitoring 750 supporters for potential touting.
The Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust has backed the club’s actions, calling it a necessary step to ensure tickets go to genuine fans.
