Manchester City’s new goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, has stated that the club was his “only option” this summer.
The 26-year-old, who joined for £26 million from PSG, was considered surplus to requirements by his former manager despite helping the team win the Champions League last season.
“My only choice was to come here,” Donnarumma said. “I knew the coach was pushing for my arrival… I didn’t hesitate.”
The Italian international has already impressed on his Premier League debut, keeping a clean sheet against Manchester United and earning a warm welcome from teammates like Erling Haaland.
“It feels like I have been here for many years,” he said, praising the team’s family-like atmosphere.
Donnarumma will face his hometown club, Napoli, in the Champions League on Thursday, an event he says he is “very excited about.”
