Amorim: No Champions League a ‘Blessing’ for Man Utd Rebuild

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is standing firm on his controversial 3-4-2-1 formation, declaring “not even the Pope” could make him change his mind.

Despite a poor start to the season with only one win in four Premier League games and an early exit from the EFL Cup, Amorim insists his consistency is vital to maintain his players’ respect.

The coach joked about a recent visit from minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe, saying he was “offering me a new contract.”

With crucial upcoming matches against Chelsea, Brentford, and Sunderland, Amorim is under pressure to turn things around. He is expected to move captain Bruno Fernandes to a deeper midfield role to give him more control of the game.

The club’s challenges were further underscored by director of football Jason Wilcox, who admitted the club’s structure needed to change, but expressed confidence that they would “win again.”
