Marseille handed defending champions Paris St-Germain their first Ligue 1 loss of the season with a 1-0 victory at Orange Vélodrome.
The only goal came in the fifth minute when Nayef Aguerd, a former West Ham defender, headed in a cross.
The match was tense throughout, culminating in Marseille manager Roberto de Zerbi being shown a red card in stoppage time.
PSG coach Luis Enrique commented on the rare defeat, stating, “We are not used to losing games.”
The French champions were missing Ousmane Dembele, who was in Paris to receive the Ballon d’Or award.
The defeat leaves PSG second in the league with 12 points, while Marseille moves into sixth with nine points.
