The harmonious title fight between McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris is on the verge of fracturing, according to former IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe.
With just seven rounds remaining, the pressure is mounting as the two vie for their first world title.
Piastri, who leads Norris by 25 points, had a weekend to forget in Baku, failing to score points for the first time this season.
He crashed in both qualifying and the race, with Hinchcliffe noting on the F1 Nation podcast that the “uncorruptedly friendly title rivalry… is going to start to fracture a little bit.”
While Norris couldn’t fully capitalize, finishing seventh, the gap between the two has narrowed. All eyes will now be on McLaren to see how the team and its drivers navigate the rising tensions of this high-stakes championship battle.
