Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he must “take care” of his players like a parent, citing a demanding schedule and a growing list of injuries.
Speaking before City’s Carabao Cup match against Huddersfield Town, Guardiola noted the team’s tough run, which included wins against Manchester United and Napoli before a late draw with Arsenal.
The club’s injury woes have worsened, with star striker Erling Haaland out due to a back issue. Other players like Abdukodir Khusanov and Rayan Cherki are also sidelined.
Despite a disappointing season last year, the team has shown renewed life, going three games unbeaten.
Guardiola praised their renewed effort, stating, “I want the players to give everything to the pitch.” He also defended his tactical choices in the Arsenal match, expressing pride in the team’s spirit and the point they earned against a strong opponent.
