Tottenham Hotspur sealed their passage into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win against League One side Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday night.
Manager Thomas Frank’s decision to make seven changes did little to disrupt the team’s rhythm. The breakthrough came in the 14th minute courtesy of a spectacular overhead kick from Player of the Match, loanee João Palhinha.
Just three minutes later, Spurs doubled their lead when Doncaster defender Jay McGrath hooked a Wilson Odobert cross into his own net.
Doncaster’s best chance came shortly before the break, but Owen Bailey’s volley was tipped onto the post by Spurs keeper Antonin Kinsky.
The victory was wrapped up in stoppage time when Brennan Johnson finished a move set up by Lucas Bergvall, securing the 3-0 scoreline. The match also saw 16-year-old Luca Williams-Barnett make his senior debut for Spurs.
The win maintains Tottenham’s strong start to the season as they now prepare to host Wolves in the Premier League.
