Ugandan teenager Allan Oyirwoth is rapidly forcing his name onto the radar of some of Europe’s most powerful clubs. Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and Celtic are among the sides now keeping close tabs on the midfielder, reports The Blazing Musket.
The 18-year-old has wasted little time in making waves since signing for MLS side New England Revolution earlier this year. Former Revolution boss Caleb Porter hinted at the growing international buzz during an appearance on Zolak and Bertrand, saying: “He’s got some interest overseas from top clubs. He’s already on their radar.”
Oyirwoth’s rise has been nothing short of meteoric. After honing his craft in Uganda, he linked up with New England at the start of the 2025 campaign. He was initially eased into action with the club’s reserve side, where he amassed 1,052 minutes in just 12 starts.
His poise on the ball stood out immediately, an 88% passing completion rate, the best on the squad, marked him as a rare blend of composure and precision. His breakout moment arrived in late April, when he thumped in a spectacular first-time left-footed strike from distance, announcing himself in style.
Those performances quickly accelerated his promotion to senior duty. He made his MLS debut on August 9 against the Chicago Fire, nearly creating a late goal in a cameo appearance. Within weeks, he was trusted with back-to-back starts against Toronto FC and Philadelphia Union. Against the Union, he underlined his all-action profile by winning every tackle he attempted (3/3), producing six defensive interventions, and still managing to fashion a clear scoring opportunity.
Such maturity has inevitably drawn attention from across the Atlantic. Oyirwoth nearly joined La Liga side Cádiz CF before opting for New England Revolution, and scouts in Spain and beyond have kept tabs ever since. Interest has only intensified in recent weeks, although talks remain exploratory.
On the international stage, Oyirwoth is already capped for Uganda. He made his Cranes debut at just 16, providing an assist against Somalia, and is expected to be central to the team’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
From a commanding breakthrough season in MLS to whispers of a European move, Oyirwoth’s journey is gathering speed. If the momentum continues, the Ugandan starlet could soon find himself making the leap to one of football’s grandest stages.
