Ugandan rally stars Yasin Nasser and co-driver Ali Katumba capped their record-breaking African Rally Championship run with a courtesy visit to Next Media Park, days after sealing the 2025 continental crown.
Nasser’s triumph in Tanzania last weekend ended a 26-year wait for Uganda to reclaim Africa’s top rally prize, a feat last achieved by the late Charles Muhangi in 1999.
The Moil Rally Team duo edged the championship by a single point on the final day, surviving a season of tight battles and high drama.
At Next Media, Chief Executive Officer Kin Kariisa welcomed the champions and congratulated them on their milestone, sharing light moments as they reflected on the campaign.
Nasser described the tense journey to the title, including a harrowing incident when their car overturned mid-race.
“That was one of the scariest moments of the season, but we never gave up,” he said.
The victory places Nasser alongside Muhangi as only the second Ugandan to lift the African Rally Championship, underlining Uganda’s return to the continent’s rally elite.
