Aston Villa finally secured their first Premier League win of the season on Sunday, coming from behind to beat Fulham 3-1 at Villa Park, thanks to a devastating two-minute blitz at the start of the second half.
Fulham took an early lead through Raúl Jiménez (3′), but the momentum shifted when Ollie Watkins (37′) ended his nine-game goal drought with the equaliser just before halftime.
The victory was sealed immediately after the break by John McGinn (49′) and substitute Emi Buendía (51′), whose quick-fire goals put Villa 3-1 ahead. McGinn’s influential performance earned him Player of the Match honors.
The result is a major relief for Unai Emery’s side, who had gone five league games without a win. For Fulham, manager Marco Silva criticized his side’s “soft” second-half surrender, which saw them continue their dreadful run of form at Villa Park.
The crucial win gives Villa a “springboard” ahead of their Europa League trip to Feyenoord this week.
