Uganda Cranes defender Geoffrey Wasswa has put pen to paper with Ethiopian Premier League contenders Fasil Kenema SC, agreeing to a two–year contract after ending his spell at Ethiopian Coffee.
The 26-year-old utility player, equally comfortable marshaling the backline or slotting into central midfield, had spent the last two seasons with the Addis Ababa-based Coffee side. He first moved there in 2023 as a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Kampala heavyweights KCCA FC.
Wasswa is no stranger to Ugandan football circles, having risen through the famed St. Mary’s Kitende production line before breaking into the Vipers SC senior team in the 2015/16 campaign. His time with the Venoms yielded two Uganda Premier League crowns and a Uganda Cup, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s most reliable young defenders. Short stints at SC Villa and KCCA FC followed, with the latter serving as his springboard to Ethiopia.
At Ethiopian Coffee, the defender grew into a trusted figure in the side’s rearguard, but his journey now takes him north to Gondar, where he links up with Fasil Kenema—popularly known as Fasil City. The Amhara Region club is famed for its fervent supporters and a competitive tradition in Ethiopia’s top flight.
