Coaches Set Ambitious Goals as New FUFA Women Super League Season Kicks Off

Finance Trust Bank and FUFA have reaffirmed their commitment to women’s football as the 2025/26 Women Super League season gets underway this weekend.

Finance Trust Bank’s Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Lubega Paul Percy, said the partnership with FUFA continues to deliver results both on and off the pitch.

“We are happy with the partnership that aligns with our objective of uplifting women. We are committed to once again award the best performing players, coaches and journalists every month. I call upon the fans to fill the stadiums ahead of the new season,” he said.

FUFA Competitions Director Hajjat Aisha Nalule emphasized the federation’s readiness for kickoff.

“As FUFA we are ready for the new season. We have already released the fixtures and licenses. We have also supported each club with 20 branded Janzi Zakayo balls, the official match ball of the league. We call upon clubs to enhance security and have ambulances during the matches,” she stated.

Club coaches also voiced their expectations and ambitions. Kampala Queens’ assistant coach Sharon Kizza made their intentions clear: “Our target is very clear, it’s to win back-to-back titles. We have replaced the positions of the departed players and we are ready to go.”

Makerere University’s Fred Ndawula said his side will rely on teamwork. “Our strength is in the team, not individuals. Our target is to win the league.”

Kawempe Muslim’s Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi was even more direct. “We want to win all 22 games and at the end of the season become champions,” he said.

Uganda Martyrs’ assistant coach Saaka John Oscar outlined a realistic goal. “We are looking forward to finishing in the top three positions. We have prepared well and corrected our mistakes. We want to start on a high by beating She Corporate FC on Sunday.”

Asubo Ladies head coach Kamya Swaleh stressed survival as the main objective. “The competition is high, but we are ready. We may not have the financial muscle of the bigger clubs, but our target is to stay in the league.”

She Maroons’ assistant coach Muhammad Ahmed added: “We do not want to limit our players to a specific target, but we want to win every game that comes our way starting with Asubo Ladies FC.”

The 2025/26 season begins on Friday, October 3, with champions Kampala Queens visiting Kawempe Muslim Ladies in the opening fixture.
