Over 90 golfers turned out on Friday at Kigo Great Lakes for the Mama Kariisa Initiative Golf Tournament, an event organized to raise funds for a new maternity ward at Rubaare Health Center IV in Ntungamo District.
The competition, led by Next Media Group CEO Kin Kariisa and his family, drew wide participation from the golfing community, with proceeds dedicated to the construction of the maternity ward.
The facility, named after Kariisa’s late mother, is expected to be completed by the end of November and will address severe overcrowding while improving maternal health services in the district.
The golf tournament is part of the Kariisa Foundation’s wider work to uplift communities in Ntungamo, where previous projects have included the construction of a library at Ruhaama Secondary School and a mosque.
Community leaders have praised the initiative, highlighting its role in improving access to essential healthcare for mothers and newborns.
