Tuchel Prioritises Continuity: Saka In, Foden and Bellingham Out

England manager Thomas Tuchel has selected his squad for the upcoming matches against Wales and Latvia, recalling the fit-again Bukayo Saka but opting for continuity by leaving out high-profile stars Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden.

Arsenal forward Saka, 24, returns after recovering from a hamstring injury, replacing his injured club teammate Noni Madueke. His inclusion comes after scoring for the Gunners in midweek.

However, Tuchel has kept faith with the core of the squad that recently delivered an impressive 5-0 win over Serbia.

This decision means Bellingham—still building fitness following shoulder surgery with Real Madrid—and in-form Manchester City attacker Foden are both absent. Everton’s Jack Grealish is also once again omitted.

Tuchel rewards players who excelled last month, such as Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers.

The Three Lions face Wales in a friendly on Thursday before a crucial World Cup qualifier in Riga on 14 October, where a win would bring them within touching distance of the 2026 World Cup in North America.

The squad also sees Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah replace the injured Tino Livramento.
