Marquez Suffers Broken Collarbone in Indonesian GP Crash

MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez sustained a suspected broken right collarbone following a high-speed crash on the opening lap of the Indonesian Grand Prix today.

The incident occurred when Marco Bezzecchi ran into the back of Marquez’s bike while attempting an overtake, sending both riders into the gravel.

Marquez, who secured his seventh world title in the previous round, was immediately seen clutching his shoulder—the same area he previously fractured in 2020.

“I can feel something is broken,” Marquez stated, confirming he will fly to Madrid tonight for further medical tests and treatment.

Despite being taken out of the race, Marquez absolved Bezzecchi of blame, noting the incident was not intentional and Bezzecchi had apologized.

Fellow Spaniard Fermin Aldeguer went on to claim his maiden MotoGP victory in the race.
