The world of darts is heading to a unique setting: Saudi Arabia will host its first-ever PDC World Series event in Riyadh on January 19-20, 2026.
The tournament, expected to feature stars like Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, will operate under the kingdom’s strict no-alcohol policy.
Unlike typical boisterous darts crowds, the 1,000-capacity venue will not sell alcohol, leading to online debate about the atmosphere of a “sober” event.
PDC president Barry Hearn acknowledged they must “respect their traditions and their laws.”
The event is part of Saudi Arabia’s “Riyadh Season” and is the latest major sporting competition—including F1 and golf—to be hosted by the country, which faces accusations of “sportswashing.”
