Jack Grealish cemented his case for an England recall by scoring a dramatic 93rd-minute winner in Everton’s 2-1 comeback victory over Crystal Palace, prompting the club to immediately update their X bio with the message: “Grealish for England.”
The 30-year-old loanee has been in exceptional form, contributing to five goals in his first seven league games for the Toffees. Despite this, he was recently left out of Thomas Tuchel’s latest England squad for the upcoming international fixtures.
Former England striker Wayne Rooney commented that Grealish’s performances are now giving Tuchel a “headache,” suggesting the midfielder is doing everything possible to force his way into the World Cup squad.
While Grealish maintained a respectful stance on his omission, telling BBC Radio 5 Live he “fully respect[s]” the manager’s decision, his focus is firmly on Everton.
Tuchel insists the door remains open for the player, stating Grealish “is on his way to be the best version of himself.”
Grealish will be ineligible to face his parent club Manchester City when Everton return to action on 18 October after the international break, but his recent heroics ensure the conversation around his international future will continue until the World Cup.
