The 2025/26 FUFA Women Super League got underway over the weekend with thrilling matches across the country, setting the stage for what promises to be one of the most competitive seasons yet.

Defending champions Kampala Queens were held to a 1-1 draw by record winners Kawempe Muslim in a tense clash that lived up to its billing. The result reflected the strength and balance at the top of Uganda’s women’s football, with both sides showing flashes of brilliance and early hunger for the title.

At the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru, She Corporates made the loudest statement of the opening weekend, crushing Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga 4-1 in a dominant display. Their sharp attack and quick transitions left no doubt that they intend to be serious contenders this season.

In Soroti, debutants St Noah Girls showed grit in their first-ever topflight match, holding Amus College to a 1-1 draw. The result marked an encouraging start for the newcomers, who battled hard to earn a point away from home.

Elsewhere, it was a tough start for Asubo Ladies FC, who were thumped 5-0 by She Maroons FC. The heavy loss exposed defensive gaps and underlined the steep learning curve for teams looking to survive in Uganda’s top women’s league.

At Makerere University, the hosts produced late drama to grab a 1-1 draw against Rines SS WFC, while in Masindi, Lady Doves and Olila High School played out a goalless draw in a tightly contested encounter.

The weekend’s results offered a mix of excitement, surprises, and statements of intent, as teams across the league announced their ambitions early.
