The Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) has partnered with Makerere University Business School (MUBS) to roll out short courses in Sports Administration and Management, a move expected to elevate the standards of sports leadership in Uganda.
The partnership was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by UOC President Dr. Donald Rukare and MUBS Principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate to train sports administrators, managers, and athletes in key areas such as governance, finance, and leadership.
Dr. Rukare described the partnership as a major milestone for Uganda’s sports development, saying it would foster efficiency and professionalism across various disciplines.
He noted that well-trained sports leaders are essential for building stronger structures and ensuring sustainable growth.
Prof. Muhwezi called the collaboration timely, emphasizing that sports have become a major contributor to the economy.
He said proper training in management and administration will be critical in maintaining the sector’s momentum both locally and internationally.
The new courses are expected to attract participants from sports federations, clubs, schools, and corporate bodies seeking to strengthen their capacity in managing sports more effectively.
