After a weekend of rain disruptions at the outdoor YMCA court in Wandegeya, the National Basketball League playoffs will finally resume tonight, Tuesday, October 7, at the Lugogo Indoor Arena, live on NBS Sport.
The women’s semifinal between JKL Lady Dolphins and UCU Lady Canons, which was postponed multiple times due to weather, headlines the night’s action.
Game Two of the best-of-five series will tip off at 9 pm, after the men’s third-place playoff between UCU Canons and Sommet, scheduled for 7 pm.
The JKL-UCU clash had been rescheduled three times over the weekend after persistent rainfall rendered the outdoor court unplayable.
The disruptions began Friday night when heavy rain halted Game Two between JT Lady Jaguars and Magic Stormers in the fourth quarter.
That game was completed on Saturday, with the Jaguars winning 69–66 to take a 2–0 lead, but the women’s semifinal between UCU and JKL could not be played.
UCU lead the series 1–0 after their 57–46 win in Game One, where Shillah Lamunu starred with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
The eight-time record champions will look to build on that performance as they chase their first title since 2022 and seek revenge against JKL, who beat them in last year’s finals.
JKL, the four-time champions, need a sharp improvement in shooting efficiency to stay alive in the series and defend their crown. A UCU victory tonight would set up a potential sweep in Game Three on Friday, October 10, also at Lugogo.
The same night will see JT Lady Jaguars attempt to close out their semifinal series against Magic Stormers, while any upsets could push Game Fours to Sunday, October 12, back at YMCA (if the weather permits).
Notably, the men’s seven-game finals between defending champions City Oilers and Namuwongo Blazers, which were supposed to tip off tonight, were postponed, as the latter are set to represent Uganda at the Road to BAL tournament in Dar es Salaam from October 17 to 19.
