American tech entrepreneur Brooklyn Earick has officially announced he will not be making a formal takeover bid for Tottenham Hotspur.
The decision, confirmed by Tottenham in a statement to the London Stock Exchange, ends speculation following an informal expression of interest from Earick’s consortium last month, which the club “unequivocally rejected,” insisting the club is not for sale.
UK merger rules had required the consortium to make a formal offer or withdraw by October 24.
Earick stated on social media that it had been a “privilege engaging” and wished the club success, respecting the clear position of the owners.
This withdrawal marks the third time the club’s board has rejected a takeover approach since the sudden departure of long-serving executive chairman Daniel Levy in September.
Levy, whose family holds a significant stake in the club’s parent company, stepped down after 25 years in the role, shortly before the club secured its first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League final in May.
